‘So then, my soul, why would you be depressed?
Why would you sink into despair?
Just keep hoping and waiting on God, your Savior.
For no matter what, I will still sing with praise,
for You are my saving grace!
Here I am depressed and downcast.
Yet I will still remember You as I ponder the place
where Your glory streams down from the mighty mountaintops, lofty and majestic—the mountains of Your awesome presence.
My deep need calls out to the deep kindness of Your love.
Your waterfall of weeping sent waves of sorrow
over my soul, carrying me away,
cascading over me like a thundering cataract.“
~ Psalm 42: 5-7, TPT
Call Me From the Deep
Lord, I’m crying out to You for You are my strong tower, my sure place, my shelter in the storm. Call me from the deep and I will come. Let me hear Your voice, Lord.
As deep calls to deep, I know You are near. Though the waves crash and hurl me about, I cry out in fear. Out of the darkness I feel the touch of Your hand — powerful, yet tender … faithful and tenacious is Your response to my cry.
The deep of my need calls to the deep of Your goodness and love for me.
And You pursue me in my difficult place.
Your love is amazing. In my darkest moments, when my cry is ugly and my thoughts faithless, Your love remains. When I don’t stand firm and I allow depression and anxiety to overcome me, You love me still. You call me from the deep … You draw me out into the light once more.
The Deep of My Need Calls to the Deep of God’s Love
O God, how do I comprehend Your love? How can I grasp the Truth that I belong to You — that I matter to You, the Maker of heaven and earth?
It is too great to understand and yet I know I am loved by You. I pray that You know my love, as well.
I place my hope in You, Lord. I find my peace in You. I know in my darkest moments You will call me from the deep, infuse me with Your strength, and carry me safely to shore away from the tumultuous waves.
Because that’s who You are, Lord. That’s who You are.
In the Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen — let it be so.
