I wander in my foggy thoughts; weary steps follow weary steps. I press on, but the mountain is steep. The trail is brutal at times. My mind races. How can I know God’s love will never fail me?
I Know of the Steadfast Love of the Lord
Life has been very difficult for a few years now — I know many that have experienced the same. But in the midst of our struggles, God has remained. His faithfulness has been a bulwark against the work of the enemy. His grace has sustained, and His mercy has held us as hurting, frightened children in the arms of our Father.
What have we done to deserve love like this? And how can I know God’s love will never fail me?
We don’t earn His love. It’s impossible. God’s love is freely given. It is matchless, unconditional … magnificent. Jeremiah described God’s love perfectly, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT).
Isn’t our God amazing? Through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, we can know Him.
We can experience the miracle of His love — we can know, really know, the Maker of heaven and earth! In the knowing we discover His love. In His presence, wave after wave of love washes over us. Inexplicable is its depth. We soon learn that truly nothing can separate us from Him — His love covers all.
All that we need, He is — the Great I Am.
He is the Living Water in our desert places when our spirit is parched.
He is the Consuming Fire that warms us in the chill of our winter seasons.
He is the Dawning of a new day, a faithful light in our darkest moments.
He is. And always will be.
God’s Love Will Never Fail
Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey His commands. ~ Deuteronomy 7:9, NLT
When we wander in our foggy thoughts with weary steps following one after another, His love never fails. He comes alongside us, whispers in delicate tones that His children recognize, and gives us renewed strength for the journey. There is no other love like this.
Our God … He is good.
