“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God Who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”
(Deuteronomy 7:9)

I was thinking today about how faithful my God is, how I’ve learned to trust Him and place my hope in Him. I looked up the word “faithful” in my concordance and was immediately drawn to this beautiful verse in Deuteronomy 7:9. What is it really saying?

Therefore KNOW that YOUR God IS God.
Therefore KNOW that He is faithful.
Therefore KNOW that He keeps His covenant and is merciful to those who love Him.

Mercy – chesed (cheh-sed) means unfailing love, tenderness, faithfulness.

Those words comfort me enormously. I love to think of the tenderness of my God, His unfailing love and faithfulness. I think the key to understanding His mercy and faithfulness is found in KNOWING Him.

This requires spending time with Him, studying His Word, giving Him praise.

It also requires learning to take God at His Word – daring to Believe Him! Our Father loves to show His power to His children. He delights in giving us the desires of our heart. He is the Creator of the entire universe, and yet He knows you by name! Amazing!!

But this level of faith requires relationship.
KNOWING …is born of relationship.

And to KNOW Him is to love Him.

Amen? Amen.

SELAH!

Lord, I do love You. Thank You for loving me and for giving me knowledge of Your covenant and mercy. You amaze me Lord at how tender You are and yet how incredibly powerful and mighty You can be. Thank You for being my God. Thank You for Your Son, Jesus, Who makes our relationship possible. I am forever grateful, Lord.
