Help Me Cast Down All Imaginations
Father, I find myself feeling anxious over fear of the unknown, and great frustration with the state of our nation and world. I worry about its effect on my family and loved ones. I know You instruct me not to worry, but it’s hard not to.
My thoughts race, running parallel to Your Word rather than intersecting and falling captive to Your authority. Help me cast down all imaginations and think on those things worthy of praise.
Turn my eyes on You.
Capture my thoughts and fill them with Your tender, faithful love and reassurance.
You clearly instruct us to be anxious for nothing, but in all things give thanks, for this is Your will concerning us. I suppose that requires immense trust and knowledge of who You are because to give thanks in the difficult place seems counterintuitive. But Your ways are not our ways and Your thoughts are not our thoughts.
When I follow Your instructions, I no longer feel anxious, and Your perfect peace resumes …
Because when my thoughts are on You, You quiet me with Your love.
When I Look to You, Lord, I Am No Longer Anxious
Blessed are You, Lord God. You are holy, You are faithful, and You are good. I trust You with all of my heart — in You I find rest, in You I find peace. You are my sure place in this ever-changing world. Thank You for Your steadfast love.

Thank you Nan once again for writing what is far too often my journey, particularly concerning my children. I have to put down those “imaginations” that want to take up residency in my thoughts. Trusting our God, who is always faithful, sometimes is challenging. Thank you for your openness and honesty. It’s so refreshing to hear your heart and just like David who wrote his lament and anxiety would turn his eyes upward from “whence cometh my help” and trust in the God who never fails.
