“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” ~ Colossians 2:6-7, NLT
“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.” ~ Ephesians 3:16-18, NLT
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8, NLT
These Things I Know. These Things I Believe
How great You are, O Lord! You are high and lifted up, exalted above all the earth. I am Yours and You are mine … forever. These things I know. These things I believe — my faith has roots. But, I sure could use some fertilizer.
You pour out Your grace abundantly, but recently it seems like I’ve needed more. Remind me in the difficult places that Your grace is sufficient for me because Your ways are perfect. You give grace proportionate to my need.

Your peace, too. Finding Your peace — being washed in its glorious light when things are so hard — is such a beautiful gift. It fortifies me to endure the trials of life.
I’m thankful my faith has roots that keep me secure when the winds of adversity howl and try to topple me over. My roots hold fast to You and to my tenets of faith. I ask that You stir up a hunger within me to dig deeper in Your Word, to drink from Your living water with abandon, to fortify my faith.
Lord, Would You fertilize the Roots of My Faith With Your Love?
The storms have been relentless lately, the fires hot. I have experienced a weakening, a weariness from the battle that I’m not accustomed to. Would You fertilize my roots with Your love? Fill me to overflowing with belly-laughs as I consider Your faithfulness? For the joy of the Lord is my strength.
Forever and always.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so

Sweet blessings to you,

Thank you for this refreshing article. I, too, believe in all the above scriptures and could use some “fertilizer”. My last day of employment was 2 weeks ago. My faith is now needing to grow in KNOWING GOD has my back and will lead me to where HE needs me to be. The enemy would love to “up root” my faith with anxiety, worry ad fear by not having a paycheck. These are the times we must hold tight and hold fast to Psalm 23.
Hi Trisha, I’m so sorry you are going through this. One of my favorite Scriptures is 2 Chronicles 16:9, “The eyes of the Lord roam the earth looking for those who love Him who need to be strengthened.” He sees you. He knows. And He cares … so much. I am praying right now for the Lord to give you divine encounters and networking as He leads you to the perfect job in His perfect timing. As we remain faithful to Him, He will remain faithful to us. I’m asking Him to make a way for you where there seems to be no way, and to supply all your needs as you wait on Him. I’ve added your name to my prayer journal and will continue to pray for you. Sweet blessings to you, Nan
