“Do not fret … Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” ~ Psalm 37:1,3-5
Lord, return me to a place of peace. Forgive me for stepping out of Your peace, for it is available to me always. You, Lord, remain faithful. But I shift my focus and my thoughts on the obstacles and difficult places — I choose to fret — and soon forget that You are the Great God, Ruler of all things.
You teach us to trust You, to know that our relationship with You is founded in great love — a love that surpasses all understanding.
Therefore, trust can be and should be a natural response.
You teach us to dwell with You, calling us out of the deep waters to abide in Your Presence. In Your Presence is joy unspeakable, full of glory. There we find peace that is so great only You can offer it.
In dwelling, there is no need to fret or worry because all we see, all we hear, is You, the One who loves us, the One who provides for us, the One who heals us and restores our broken places.
You are faithful Lord,
I will remember Your faithfulness and dwell in Your Secret Place with You.
Remind each of us to delight ourselves in You — to desire You above all others, to eradicate any god, any idol that strives to take first place over You in our lives. You are all that we need, Lord.
Let us be consumed by Your love, overcome by the knowledge of Your Presence, for in Your Presence there can be no reason to fret.
As we wait patiently for Your timing in all things, as we wait for Your intervention in our circumstances, teach us to rest in You. Teach us to yield to Your authority. Teach us to lay our burdens at Your feet and come into Your embrace where there is perfect peace and the snare of fretting is no more.
You are our joy.
You are our peace.
You are our God.
Together we come before You, Lord, and lay our burdens down — decisively, humbly, yet with certainty, for these burdens are too great to carry on our own.
We choose to trust You, to dwell in Your presence, to remember Your faithfulness.
We choose to delight ourselves in You and let You handle the difficult places.
Open our eyes to see You, Lord — to see only You. Shift our focus away from our troubles, and onto the knowledge of who You are — the Maker of heaven and earth, our Abba Father.
Nothing compares to You, Lord.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
