I must learn to consistently make space for grace.

“Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].” ~ Hebrews 4:16, AMPC

“But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, ‘God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].'” ~ James 4:6, AMP

Make Space for Grace

Lord, life is hard — often! Without You, I don’t think I could have made it. I know Your grace is sufficient, but I must learn to consistently make space for grace.

In my mind’s eye I can see You pouring living water from a golden pitcher onto the parched earth. As it falls, I watch it transform into manna — morsels of grace — provided from Your hand.

If only I will take time to gather it.

If only I will make space for grace in my crazy schedule, in my broken places.

make space for grace

I don’t want it to require effort, Lord, but in some ways it does, doesn’t it? You don’t force Your ways on me. You won’t push Your gifts on me.

I must desire Your gifts.

I must acknowledge and receive them.

My bad attitude crowds the space for grace, doesn’t it? My busy schedule. Abrupt, difficult people. The gerbil wheel with incessant spinning and striving.

My heart and mind becomes very crowded with these things of the flesh and THAT’S when I become weary, depleted … overwhelmed.

Make space for grace

BUT when I make space for grace and gather it from Your hand, I have all I need. In my weakness I am made strong. In my brokenness, I find healing.

In my chaos I find peace.

Not as the world gives, but as You only can give. Perfect peace. Shalom peace — not the absence of chaos but contentment in the midst of it.

This peace — this contentment — is available if only I will make space for grace, make time to gather it.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. That’s where I want to be — in Your secret place reserved for those who love You.

I know grace abounds there.

Your grace is sufficient for all I need. Your grace is a beautiful gift Lord. I am so appreciative.

God’s Grace is Sufficient for Me

May I never be too busy or too stubborn to be still and remember that You are God — the Giver of amazing grace. I love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ Name I pray,

Amen
