“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~ Hebrews 12:1-2, NKJV
“Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.” ~ 1 Peter 5:8, TPT
My Desire is to Look to You, Jesus
Lord, what a wonder You are. I stand in awe at Your goodness and Your faithfulness to me. You are teaching me to look to You, Jesus — and I’m trying — but the Enemy is continuously tapping on my shoulder and whispering to me.
It’s so annoying … and distracting.
But what’s more frustrating is that I find myself listening to him! I catch myself shifting my gaze from You to him, as he bends my ear.
Forgive me, Lord. I want to run this race with endurance. I want to run in a way pleasing to You. Help me continually look to You, Jesus, and strengthen me to resist the lure of the Enemy.
You are the Author and Finisher of my faith. It is You that I love.
Thank You for drawing near to me in times of trial. Continue to teach me to discern Your voice. Continue to teach me to walk in devotion and faithfulness to You, my Lord.
When the Road is Long & the Way is Hard, I Want My Eyes on You, Lord
Help me look to You, Jesus, when the road is long and the way is hard. For it is with You that I walk in victory and peace and endurance.
I will resist the devil, in the Name of Jesus as You have instructed and I will brush him away from my shoulder. And because of You, I will find victory. Thank You, Lord.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen — let it be so.

Sweet blessings to you,
Yes I pray to stay close to Jesus by prayer and reading His word. Also learning from my Christian friends and leaning on their strength. I need to kick the devil in the ribs when he creeps up, in fact I should never let him get that close. Thank you for your words. Cookie
Yes, I agree! Why do we even allow him to get close enough to tap us on the shoulder and whisper his lies. Mercy! Awareness is the beginning of change, amen?
It seems I’m constantly praying to hold every thought captive. Thank God He gave us that option!!
Yes, I’m thankful too. My thoughts can go to deep, dark places quickly if I don’t diligently wrangle them in. It’s good to know I’m not alone in the struggle. Thanks for stopping by.
Yes and amen
He’s a persistent little rascal, isn’t he?
I hate the old devil coming around telling me I can’t get through this. But I know with Jesus anything is possible. Thanks for this prayer today.
You’re so welcome. I’m gonna help pray you through this newest trial. You are right: with Jesus anything is possible. Keeping our eyes on Him makes everything smaller and less threatening.
