God is Greater Than the Roar of the Raging Water

As I walked along the country road enjoying the gentle breeze of an approaching storm, I recalled a quote from F.B. Meyer, “Never fear the rough waters ahead which through their proud contempt impede your progress. God is greater than the roar of raging water and the mighty waves of the sea. ‘The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever’ (Psalm 29:10). A storm is simply the hem of His robe, the sign of His coming, and the evidence of His Presence.”

Clouds Hung Heavy in the Troubled Sky Pointing Me To Jesus

I rounded the curve along the row of hemlocks and pulled my hood over my head. The drizzle was changing to rain. Clouds hung heavy in the troubled sky as step-by-step I made my trek along the dirt road.

Frustration shrouded my thoughts because I had fallen asleep during my quiet time. Yes, I was worn out and needed rest. But my quiet time with Jesus is where I garner strength. I don’t want to ever take His love for granted.

The Lord Has His Way in the Storm. Really?

I sat on the front porch, Bible in hand, enjoying my quiet time with the Lord as I poured out my heart to Him. I noticed a storm cloud coming over the ridge. Dark. Ominous. The wind kicked up bringing refreshing cool air with its breeze.

I went back to reading. Praying. Crying out to the Lord.

From the corner of my eye a bright light flashed. Immediately the earth trembled with roaring thunder.

When Clouds Remind Me of God’s Presence

I rounded the curve at the top of the hill — the curve that runs alongside a glorious pasture lush from recent rains. Clouds bubbled, some ashen in color. In the distance the mountain range rippled in shades of navy and slate blue. A cooling breeze wiped the sweat from my brow.

The moment was so peaceful. The morning had been difficult as David’s dementia marches on in its devastation. These few minutes of respite along our country road were like giant gulps from the well of Living Water.
