Father, You are high and lifted up, seated on the throne. You rule heaven and earth in power and majesty, and You tell me, “Be not afraid.” In many ways, I’m struggling with this. My spirit is strong and typically fearless. But my flesh … oy! My flesh tends to get caught up in the matters of this world and forget there is a heavenly perspective.

Would you lift my chin and tilt my head back so I might look up and behold Your glory? When my eyes are on You, I am strong and courageous.

Lord, You are my God. You hide me beneath the shadow of Your wing and I am safe. I will fear no evil, but it sure does whisper loudly calling my name, taunting me, causing me to tremble. Sometimes it’s hard to stand strong.

You, Lord, are my refuge and my fortress. Your truth is my shield and buckler, and in Your Name, I have placed my trust. Though a thousand fall at my side, and ten thousand fall at my right hand, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. You have given Your angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways.

Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You promise to deliver us out of them all. You promise to be our shelter in the storm, our refuge, our strong tower we can run into and be safe. Even so, I’m afraid Lord, but I don’t want to be.
