Discovering Ruach, The Powerful Breath of God

I walked along our country road thinking about the breath of God. Ruach. Beside me, fallen leaves rustled and swirled around in a gentle breeze that escorted me on my path. I watched and listened as I kept up my pace, thankful for the cooling of the breeze, pondering the movement of the leaves that seemingly came alive, yet in reality were dead.

The leaves had fallen — a sure sign of an early fall.

Their color was gone now. They were dry and brittle.

And yet they danced in the wind — moved by the powerful breath of God. Ruach.

Finding God’s Presence ~ All We Are is Dust in The Wind. Really?

“All we are is dust in the wind …”

The lyrics drifted through my mind as the four-part harmony rose and fell into beautiful melody. All afternoon the tune from my teenage years replayed in my thoughts.

I decided to find it on youtube and explore the lyrics. Never before had I realized what a song of hopelessness Dust in The Wind is!

I began to pray and ask the Lord why He had drawn me to this song, especially in the midst of very difficult, chaotic days — why point me to hopelessness?

But then I realized something profound and I can’t wait to share it with you.
