“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” ~ Matthew 24:6-7, NKJV
“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’” ~ Deuteronomy 20:1-4, NKJV
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10, NKJV
The World as We Know It Is Crumbling
Father, I’m so thankful for Your mighty power, but lately, I’ve been even more thankful for Your tenderness toward Your children. The world as we know it is crumbling. There are wars and rumors of war. Hatred. Violence. Evil, and corruption.
I don’t want to be afraid.
You clearly speak the word, “Do not be discouraged, neither be afraid, for I, the Lord Your God am with You wherever You go.” You surround me as a shield, You lead me by the right hand and quiet me with Your love.
I’m so thankful for this knowledge learned through experience. You have allowed me to encounter You in very personal ways. You have opened the eyes of my heart to recognize Your presence drawing near in the difficult places.
And although there are wars and rumors of war, it is You who rules over all. Shall we only accept good from You, and not adversity? Rain falls on the righteous and the wicked. So does adversity.
Wars and Rumors of War are Not Without God’s Knowledge
Either I believe You are sovereign, or I don’t.
I do believe, Lord.
This helps my troubled mind, however, sometimes it’s hard to reconcile why such a wonderful God would allow such atrocities. Please forgive me for not trusting without question.
Your ways are not my ways, and You see things through the lens of eternity — I’m just passing through this world trying to get to my real home. My real home is in the secret place of Your Tabernacle, forever and ever dwelling in the beauty of Your holiness.
This I know. This is what I hope for.
Steady my heart, Lord, as I turn my thoughts to You, away from these wars and rumors of war. Let me be an instrument of Your peace during these difficult times. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is despair, let me sow hope.
I am a Christ-bearer. May I represent You well, may I be a vessel of honor for You. Though severely broken, You have put me back together for such a time as this.
I Will Not Be Afraid For You Are With Me, Lord
Make me brave, Lord. Steadfast. Immoveable. Overflowing with Your love into the darkness of this hurting world. Fix my eyes on You and I will not be afraid or ridden with anxiety, for You are my peace … You are my strength. I love You, Lord.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen
