ADVENT: Love
“What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are.” ~ 1 John 3:1, MSG
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave His Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” ~ John 3:16, MSG
“For the mountains may move
and the hills disappear,
but even then My faithful love for you will remain.
My covenant of blessing will never be broken,”
says the Lord, who has mercy on you.” ~ Isaiah 54:10, NLT
I Am So Undeserving to be Called Your Child
Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth! You are sovereign, Maker of heaven and earth. You are bathed in pure light, Your glory fills heaven and earth. What love is this, Lord, that You should call me Your child?
I am so undeserving, so insignificant in the whole scheme of things, and yet You call me Your daughter — daughter of the King. You love me with an everlasting love. Who can know how deep, or how wide is Your great love?

I don’t think we can know. Not really.
It is beyond our human understanding.
I am grateful, Lord
What love is this that You would die for me? That You — the King of kings — would be born in a lowly manger in a bed of straw surrounded by animals just so I could know You! It’s hard to wrap my mind around it.
Yet when I step aside from the busyness, cease striving … be still … and remember who You are and that You are God — I find myself overwhelmed by Your gift of Jesus — the Rock of my salvation.
What Love is This that Bathes Me in Light?
Bathe me in the light of Your glory and wrap me in Your love. Your love dispels my fear and calms my restless thoughts. Your love grants me the gift of joy when tears lay just below the surface waiting for the opportunity to escape.
What love is this, Lord? May I never lose the wonder of it all.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so
