You are my shepherd, Lord. Lead me through this valley

“He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
    He will carry the lambs in his arms,
holding them close to his heart.
    He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.” ~ Isaiah 40:11, NLT

 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” ~ John 10:14-15, NKJV

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4, NKJV

Lead Me Through This Valley of Difficulty

Father, life is beautiful, but life is hard. Rain falls on the wicked and the good. Bad things happen to good people because our world is fallen — sin is rampant. Difficulty abounds. But You are my shepherd. Lead me through this valley of difficulty.

I sense the shadows of darkness but then I remember that You draw near to us in the difficult places and I realize the shadow of Your presence is about me. Your shadow of love overcomes the shadow of the valley experience because You are my shepherd.

I find renewed peace because I am not alone in the difficult place.

You are my shepherd, Lord. The valley is deep

All about me is beauty … if I’ll look for it. Your river flows freely in the valleys, ever-present, ever-refreshing. Its banks are blanketed in a tapestry of wildflowers sprinkling vibrant color in the presence of my enemies that seek out the valleys in my life.

Valleys are holy ground because You are there, because You are my shepherd and it is You that leads me through. The river of living water, the glory of Your creation, the shadow of Your wing are all evidence of Your presence with me.

I’m so thankful You are my shepherd! Your care for me is tender and beautiful. Your love for me brings me to my knees in worship. Valleys are part of the walk of faith … I know this, but that doesn’t change the fact that our valleys — our difficult places — can be very hard. But Your presence brings a sweetness to the bitter and I know I can endure the trial.

You Are My Shepherd, Lord. Thank You!

Blessed are You, O Lord. You are high and lifted up, exalted about all the earth! Forever my lips shall praise Your Name, even in the valleys — especially in the valleys, because You are my shepherd, I shall not lack any good thing.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
