Beyond the Veil of Fog, a Hidden World Exists

The oyster-gray veil of fog clung to the earth outside my window. The forest beyond the knoll was hidden, the creek babbling along its edge invisible but for its gentle melody of liquid notes stumbling over stones.

But I knew they were there.

Though not Visible, I Knew that Beautiful World Existed Beyond the Veil of Fog

Though hidden beyond the veil of fog, I knew the forest, creek, and nature’s abundance of life were there. I had hiked through the forest, exploring the tender plants emerging from the forest’s floor, new life in the first pangs of spring. I’ve stepped across the stones jutting from the creek’s flow, crossing over to the other side. I’ve sat on its moss-laden bank and rested in its soothing rhythm of song.

beyond the veil of fog

Even though not visible this morning, I knew that beautiful world existed.

I had experienced it.

The Lord, in all His glory, is the same. Though hidden beyond a veil, He is there. I know because I’ve experienced His love. I know His redemptive power. I’ve walked with Him in the difficult places, felt the touch of His hand, and heard His delicate whisper deep inside my heart.

He is Not Far From Us

I may not be able to see Him with the naked eye, but my heart bears witness to His presence. “He is not far from us, for it is in Him that we live and move and have our being.”*

Beyond the veil.

Right there, as close as our next breath.
