“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.” ~ Psalm 24:3-4
Lord, I want to stand in Your holy place — the place of Your Presence. I am thankful that because of Jesus, I can ascend the mountain of God directly to Your throne of grace. That, in itself, is amazing, but then to be able to stand in Your Presence. Wow! It’s hard to fathom.
I so easily think of You as my Abba Father — my Daddy God. I am so appreciative of this truth. But every so often You give me a glimpse of Your majesty. Your power. Your glory. You show me that You are the King of Glory! The Lord strong and mighty in battle.
The Lord of Hosts is Your name! The God-of-Angel-Armies. Oh that we might see and know and remember Your mighty power! Oh that we might remember that for You Lord, nothing is impossible.
You hold the whole world in Your hands. You know the number of grains of sand along the seashore. You know the number of the hairs upon our heads. You send lightning from Your fingertips, and thunder rumbles and roars as Your angel-army passes by.
And yet You know when we cry — every teardrop is precious to You. You know when the sparrow falls and the lamb strays from the flock.
You know our fears. Our hopes. Our dreams. And yet you love us.
You love us with an everlasting love.
Help us learn to rest in that knowledge, finding security, comfort, and peace.
Thank You Lord.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen

Have you had a chance to read Faith Notes ~ Mrs. Charles H. Spurgeon: When Fires of Affliction Cause Songs of Praise yet?
Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a great preacher from the mid 1800s. His wisdom and insight into the things of God have touched multitudes of people over the generations. One of my favorite quotes of Spurgeon is “God is too good to be unkind. He is too wise to make a mistake. So when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart.” Isn’t that good?
Well, of course we all know that behind every great man is a great woman. Charles’ wife, Susannah, was a faithful wife and encourager of Charles for thirty-six years. She is best known for creating the Book Fund which provided books for struggling ministers who, in England at that time, could scarcely feed their families.
Much of Susannah’s adult life was spent suffering from many physical afflictions leaving her weak and bedridden for long periods of time. The following is a glimpse into her life as shared in my favorite devotional, Streams in the Desert.*
