for my hope is in Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
O my people, trust in Him at all times.
Pour out your heart to Him,
for God is our refuge.” ~ Psalm 62:5-8, NLT
He is God, therefore I trust Him
Lord, You are my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in You. My soul finds rest in You, even when silence is Your response to me.
I still trust You.
But it’s hard.
I know I can trust Your heart that is for me and not against me. I know I can trust You to work everything together for my good. This I know, but Your voice is a calm reassurance to me. When You are silent, I sometimes feel afraid and alone. I long to hear You, to feel Your embrace.
Awaken my heart to remember Your goodness. Shift my focus to Your face, away from circumstances. Your face I seek, O Lord. There is no shadow of turning with You. Your silence is not a reflection of abandonment, for You promised to never leave me nor forsake me.
And I believe You.
But my belief doesn’t dismiss the longing I feel to hear Your delicate whisper deep in my heart, telling me to turn left or right, reminding me that You are overseeing all of the heartbreak I am facing right now.
In Your Silence Lord, I Will Still Praise You
I will sing praise to You for Your lovingkindness is steadfast. I will exalt Your holy Name for You are the One True God. In my praise I will find You. In my praise I will remember who You are. Praise will lead me to the stillness where You inhabit Your holy sanctuary. And in the sanctuary perhaps You will speak once again.
But even if You don’t, I will still praise You and place my hope in You.
Even in Your silence.
