how to find shades of grace in your darkest night

Out of the darkened chamber of night, the new day dawns. Ebony turns to shades of apricot and lavender, washing over the earth, reflecting God’s glory in the rivers, lakes, puddles, dew drops — shades of grace light up the morning.

When Night Closes In, Look for Grace

God’s glory cannot be halted — it will always be revealed, no matter the depth of night’s darkness.

His light of morning grows and spreads and permeates the earth with the hope of a new day … no matter the deprivation of the soul.

Because God is.

He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is Truth revealed. Joy unspeakable.

He is my hope — my only hope.

But how do I find shades of grace in my darkest night?

As the new day dawns right on schedule without a thought of how or why, without resistance, so His mercies are new every morning — regardless of my attitudes, regardless of my resistance.

His mercy is there. His strength. His goodness. His love towards me. He’s the keeper of my heart.

He is the keeper of your heart too … if you’ll let Him.

How to Find Shades of Grace? Praise Him!

Light filters through the apple tree awakening the cardinal sleeping safely within its branches — her song drifting between earth and heaven, praising her Creator.

I sit quietly and listen to her melody of love.

I want my song to drift between earth’s pain and heavens blessings, too. I want my praise to fill those spaces of grace and draw Him near to my restless, hurting heart.

I suppose I know He’s already near, just as He promised — He’s proven Himself over and over. But praise opens my eyes to see, awakens my heart to remember I am not alone.

Praise secures the light in my darkest night and strengthens me to press on. It is the very thing that helps me find spaces of grace in my darkest night.

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” ~ Lamentations 3:22-24

No matter the depth of night’s darkness, God is there, His mercies new every morning.

For He is faithful.
