In the wilderness You teach me who You are, Lord

“And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now He has brought you to this place.” ~ Deuteronomy 1:31, NLT

“In a desert land He found him,
    in a barren and howling waste.
He shielded him and cared for him;
    He guarded him as the apple of His eye,” ~ Deuteronomy 32:10, NIV

“The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness.” ~ Deuteronomy 2:7, NIV

“Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.” ~ Isaiah 43:19, NKJV

Only You Can Satisfy the Longing Heart, Lord

O God, You are my God, early will I seek You. My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land. Only You can satisfy the longing soul. Only You can search my heart and know my anxious thoughts … only You can give me perfect peace. In the wilderness place, You teach me who You are.

Never has Your love failed me. I have no need to fear the difficult places because You promise that Your presence will go with me and You will give me rest.

The wilderness is sacred because I find You there, Lord

Help me embrace the wilderness that often occurs in this fallen world. It is not an indication that You have abandoned me — it is an opportunity to love You more and experience Your tender watchcare. I am the apple of Your eye … You call me Your daughter.

Lead me in Your paths of righteousness, even if it means You lead me into a wilderness where I can be alone with You. With endless love, You heal my heart and calm my restless thoughts. When I’m weary and I feel like I can’t go on, You lift me into Your capable arms and carry me as a father carries his child.

Your Grace Flows Freely in the Wilderness Places

How wonderful is Your love, Lord … how amazing is Your grace that flows freely in the wilderness places. Wrap me in the light of Your love that I might be strengthened. Thank You for seeking after me when I wander lost and alone. Thank You for calling my name and taking hold of my hand to lead me home.

I love You, Lord. I trust You. Thank You for allowing me to know You in Your fullness. You are Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, and my Prince of Peace. I am forever Yours.

In Jesus’s Name, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
