Throughout Scriptures, God was shrouded by a cloud because the glory of His Presence was too brilliant to look upon.
Throughout Scriptures, God was shrouded by a cloud because the glory of His Presence was too brilliant to look upon.

And as Aaron spoke to the whole community of Israel, they looked out toward the wilderness. There they could see the awesome glory of the Lord shrouded by a cloud.” ~ Exodus 16:10, NLT

Lord, great is Your faithfulness! You are mighty to save, sovereign over all things. I trust You, really I do, but when You are shrouded by a cloud, and I can’t find You in my difficult place, doubt finds an entrance.

Is it True God’s Glory is Shrouded by a Cloud Because of Its Brilliance?

When Your Presence is shrouded by a cloud of adversity, I easily lose my way.

Forgive me, Lord. Make me brave.

When You find me whimpering in a corner, remember that I am made of the dust of the earth and, although Your spirit is within me, I sometimes fall victim to the lies of the enemy.

When God draws near in His fullness, His glory is shrouded by a cloud because of its brilliance.
When God, in His fullness, draws near, His glory is shrouded by a cloud.

I forget that I am a warrior.

I forget that throughout scriptures You are shrouded in a cloud because Your glory is too brilliant to look upon.

I forget that being shrouded in a cloud is how You draw near to us in Your fullness.

What a glorious thought!

Even in chaos and struggle — especially in chaos and struggle — You respond to our need and draw near.

I can rely on this Truth.

Forgive me for questioning, “Where are You?” when things are so very difficult.

I know that I know You will never leave me nor forsake me.

I know that I know You are a very present help in times of trouble.

Awaken Our Hearts, Lord, to Recognize Your Presence Shrouded by a Cloud

Open my eyes to see You, Lord — awaken my heart to recognize You — when a cloud descends upon me. I need not fear. It is You shrouded by a cloud coming to my aid.

For You are indeed faithful and do what You say You will do. You are who You say You are. How can I ever doubt the wonder of who You are?

You are my Beloved, and I am Yours.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

In Jesus’s Name I pray,

Amen
