I love the Lord because He hears my prayers and answers them. Because He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I breathe! ~ Psalm 116:1-2, TLB
Lord, You are the Giver of all things — You are my Provider, Protector, Peace, and Hope. You are my joy, my Beloved. You teach us to pray believing — expecting Your response. Help us our unbelief.
I love knowing that You respond to our prayer even as it escapes our lips. Help us get that in our knowers — to expect Your response — to wait for it, look for it, hope for it. And then teach us to recognize and accept Your response when we see it, even if it doesn’t look the way we thought it should.
Help us to trust.
Dreams are dashed when we only see from our perspective and not from a place of expectation, receiving Your response to our request. Hope is lost when prayer escapes us, and is released with no expectation or anticipation of Your response.
We want our own way, Lord, but Your ways are not our ways, Your thoughts are not our thoughts. Please forgive us. Teach us to trust as we wait for Your response. Teach us to expect Your answer and to recognize it when it arrives.
Faith is knowing You have heard our requests because You promised You will hear us. That should settle the debate! Awaken our hearts to remember who You are and that You do what You say You will do. Help us rest in that knowledge.
Thank You for the gift of expectation that anticipates Your goodness. Season it with trust and surrender as Your will unfolds and we know that we know we have received the desires of our hearts.
You are wonderful Lord. We love You so much.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen

Have you had a chance to read Faith Notes ~ Corrie ten Boom: When Cockroaches Are a Blessing?
Corrie ten Boom is a hero of my faith. Words do not adequately describe this woman and the way she lived out her simple faith. Corrie is the one who taught me to hide beneath the shadow of God’s wing. She taught me to open my eyes to see the Lord in the midst of horrendous circumstances.
I am forever grateful for her.
Corrie and her family risked their lives by hiding Jews in occupied Holland during World War II. They were eventually found out, arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Ravensbruck, a notorious Nazi death camp. Corrie survived. Her family did not.
May you be inspired to endure life’s hardships and find the goodness of God in the midst of broken places when life does not make sense.
