Will You quiet me with Your love?
Lord, You are the God of all comfort, my refuge in the difficult place. You are Wonderful, Counselor … the Prince of Peace. Oh, how I need Your peace. Will You quiet me with Your love?
Your love is so much stronger than whatever troubles me. I need You like I never have before, yet … I’m thankful because I know You like never before. This difficult place is teaching me who You are — the Keeper of my soul, the One who steadies my heart, the One who quiets me with His love. I am learning Your faithfulness to me, Your long-suffering. I am gaining an understanding of Your mercy that I have never known before.
Chesed. Mercy. Your steadfast covenant love …
I am a recipient of Your covenant love and I am so grateful.
So why am I lacking peace?
Your peace washes over me and I am helped
I know You as Jehovah Shalom, the Lord my Peace … the Prince of Peace. That is who You are. When You draw near, when You quiet my heart, Your peace washes over me and I am helped. I have no need to fear an unknown future. I have no need to worry and fret, to be frustrated by the chaos of this world. I have no need for those things, and yet I struggle.
Forgive me, Lord. Turn my eyes toward You and remind me who I am to You. When my mind is stayed on You, You will keep me in perfect peace. As I call out to You, hear me in my distress and bathe me in the light of Your love. In Your presence is where I want to be. In Your presence, I will find peace.
Bless You, Lord. I give You honor, glory, and praise.
