I know You're in the dark cloud, God. Help me see You

“And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

“Then Solomon spoke:

“’The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud.'” ~ 1 Kings 8:10-12, NKJV

“As the people stood in the distance, Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.” ~ Exodus 20:21, NLT

“Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.” ~ Exodus 16:10, NKJV

“Clouds and darkness surround Him;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.” ~ Psalm 97:2, NKJV

It’s Very Comforting to Know God’s Presence in My Difficult Places

Father, Moses said that You are in the thick darkness — the dark cloud. The light of Your presence creates the shadow in the cloud that veils You, doesn’t it? The brilliance of Your glory casts its shade through the cloud. I can see that, Lord. I can know and understand this image.

I find great comfort knowing Your presence is in my difficult, dark places. Thank You, Lord. You are drawn to the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit, so perhaps the darkness I often feel is but the shadow of Your wing sheltering me … loving me.

The Lord is in the dark cloud

I want to see You, Lord. By faith, I want to recognize Your presence even in the darkness of difficulty — especially in the darkness of difficulty. You promise to permeate my darkness with Your glorious light. Illuminate who You are in those hard places — You are my refuge, my shelter. You are my comfort in the dark cloud that often descends upon my life.

I believe Your holiness is found in the dark cloud, it is sacred and to be revered. If only I can take hold of this understanding — not to be afraid of the darkness — the wilderness — but to embrace it as sacred because You are most definitely with me in my overwhelm.

Open my eyes to see You. Awaken my heart to respond to Your gentle touch that reassures me, that steadies my heart, and gives me peace. You are my Shepherd who leads me and goes before me into my tomorrows. I will not be afraid, for my eyes are on You. With each dark cloud that descends onto me, I will look for You because I know You are near.

God’s Holiness is found in the Dark Cloud, a Sacred Place

You promise to never leave nor forsake Your children — it is in You that we live and move and have our being. You are with me in the happy and in the sad, in the peaceful and in the anguish. I have put my trust in You for You are a good Father … always. I will bless Your Name for as long as I live.

In Jesus’s Name, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
