The gentle rocking of our porch swing took me back to my childhood as I closed my eyes and reminisced. I was a little girl, held in granddaddy’s arms, swaying back and forth on his porch glider. I felt loved. Secure. Taken care of.
The melody of the windchime had never sounded so beautiful
Life was simple then — not a care in the world. Do you remember, too? Like a soft quilt, I snuggled in my precious memories and rested. A stiff breeze escorted voluminous clouds over the mountain ridge. Trees rustled. My thoughts wandered to Ruach Elohim — the breath, wind, or Spirit of God. My windchime began its melody, a celebration of sorts because of His glorious breath.
I sensed the presence of the Lord.

Gently rocking in the sanctuary of my porch, I felt held in my Father’s arms. Thankfulness rose in my heart while the heavenly melody played; I surrendered to His comfort, releasing my heavy burdens and settling into His beautiful peace.
Isaiah 51:3 reads, “For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.”
O Friend, let these words wash over you. We, too, are the people of God. He promises to comfort us in our waste places. Our wilderness place will flourish like the Garden of Eden, filled with beauty and the sweet aroma of Christ. By faith, there will be streams in our desert, and it will burst forth with new life like a well-watered garden. Laughter will be heard. Singing. Joyful dancing. Thanksgiving and lovely melody will resound all about us.
Can you see it? Can you hear the joyful melody? Can you see past your circumstances, look up, and behold your God? He draws near to us in our brokenness, but we can’t recognize His presence if we don’t look up and call upon His Name: Jesus … Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us that we walk by faith and not by sight — we know these promises are true by believing, not by seeing. We know that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. BUT, when life is hard, and we are breaking beneath the weight of our worries and cares, it can be very hard to rise above. Amen? I know.
I have come to realize that the Lord searches our hearts and knows our anxious thoughts. He understands us, and He calls to us in the difficult place. I have also come to realize that I must anticipate Him drawing near as He promised, and then be still and listen for His voice.
Ruach Elohim brings hope in His voice of Melody
The melody of the windchime soothed me, lulling me into a quiet peace. I closed my eyes, billows of grace washing over me and renewed faith rising to the surface. Deep in my spirit, I heard the delicate whisper of the Lord, Nan, I am here. I am with you always. No weapon formed against you will prosper, for I am a shield about you. Receive My peace. Receive My joy and celebrate the melody of My Spirit passing by. I am working all things together for Your good and for My glory. Please do not harden your heart when life in this fallen world becomes difficult; instead, look to Me, your Faithful God … your Abba Father who adores You. My love will never fail you.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
