Your love, O Lord, amazes me!
Third Sunday of Advent
“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: ‘Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak, the Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
“‘I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, who are among you, to whom its reproach is a burden. Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who afflict you, I will save the lame, and gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land where they were put to shame.
“‘At that time I will bring you back, even at the time I gather you; For I will give you a name and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes,’ says the Lord.” ~ Zephaniah 3:16-20
Lord, there is no god beside You — none can compare! And the amazing thing is that, even though You are magnificent, awesome, and the Most High God, You call us precious in Your sight. You loved us so much that You sent Jesus so we could know You and grasp the depth of Your love.
Help us take hold of that Truth, for it is phenomenal.
Your love gives me hope.
Your love gives me courage. And peace. And strength to endure the trials that permeate this fallen world. Thank You Lord for the promise of Your abiding presence.
Immanuel — God with us.
Yes, You are with us and we need not face any giant alone. When we pass through the waters, we won’t drown. When we pass through the flames, we won’t burn because Your Spirit shields us from harm as You carry us through like a Father who carries His son through the wilderness.
All because of Jesus.
When we look upon the Christ Child wrapped in swaddling clothes, open our eyes to see the Man Jesus — the perfect Lamb, the Son of God — lifted high on the cross that we might be drawn to You, Lord. Open our eyes to see the stone rolled away to behold the miracle of the risen Lord.
Oh, what sacrifice.
Oh, what love!
Lord, be magnified in me. I want Your light — the Light of Christ — to unfurl in a mighty blaze illuminating the evidence of Your presence — for Your glory, for Your honor — for You are indeed with us always, even to the ends of the earth.
Use us Lord, to help others find You and Your faithfulness in their darkest moments.
Awaken our hearts this Christmas season to love and adore You.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
