The sun rose outside my window dispelling the darkness of night, awakening the songbirds living in our ancient juniper. I thought about the goodness of God — remembering the Lord is my Helper, especially in the difficult places. He remains good, regardless of my circumstances.

I turned the pages of my Bible to Hebrews: “He has said, ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you.’ So that we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” ~ Hebrews 13:5-6

Teach Me to Be Still. I’m Like a Twitching Squirrel

Lord, You call to me and I come. I love Your voice. I love Your presence — I want to spend time with You. Teach me to be still. I’m like a twitching squirrel with my mind going all over the place. Distractions pull me in all directions, interrupting my focus, and even interrupting our conversation.

I am so sorry, Lord. Please forgive me. Help me be vigilant to disregard the distractions that are surely a strategy from the enemy.

Like a Storm in the Night, the Lord Fights for Us

Lightning split the darkness with an explosion of light. Thunder rumbled and roared as if it were rolling the darkness away like a thick, ugly carpet. Rain peppered down. Wind howled. And just like that, the storm was gone. I realized that like a storm in the night, the Lord fights for us.

As I rolled out of bed, these thoughts were still with me.

Breathe on Me, Breath of God. Fill Me With Life Anew

Breathe on me, Breath of God — I need You so. Rekindle the flame, teach my heart to love You more. Replenish my soul.

I’m weary, Lord, but in You I find peace. Lead me to Your secret place where I find shelter from the difficulties of life. Where I can learn the mysteries of who You are.

You alone are my hope.
