A warm welcome to you! Thank you for stopping by. As you read through my pages, I believe you will find that I am just like you—a woman who loves the Lord and cherishes His grace. And, like you, I sometimes grow weary from the journey. I have experienced many difficult places in my life—a brother’s suicide, my mom’s young death, cancer, a prodigal child, extensive unemployment. There have been times when I thought I couldn’t go on. But, God…don’t you love that? But God carried me through and opened my eyes to see Him in my midst. He opened my ears to hear His sweet whispers of love.

Take hope in the knowledge that you are cherished by the One who made you—you are sheltered in the shadow of His wing, close to His heart. It is my prayer that as we get to know one another you, too, will see beyond the veil and will learn to say, “Even so, I walk in the Presence of the Lord”

With joy,
Nan

Finding God’s Presence ~ Learning to Listen to the Wind Maker

Finding God’s Presence ~ Learning to Listen to the Wind Maker

A rush of wind swept through the treetops like the sound of crashing waves, its power witnessed in the bending of branches and the tousling of remaining leaves. Yet far below the forest canopy I walked in a broad patch of sunshine without the slightest breeze. In fact, I knew the blast of wind came only because I heard its whistle and saw its effects above me.

But in the sunshine I couldn’t feel the wind.

My spirit stirred and I knew this was a God-moment.

I’m listening, Lord.

Faith Notes ~ Lisa Anne Tindal: Finding God in Quiet Confidence

Faith Notes ~ Lisa Anne Tindal: Finding God in Quiet Confidence

A few months ago the Lord, in His goodness, crossed my path with Lisa Tindal. We found each other on Twitter and although we haven’t become bosom buddies, I am clearly drawn to her deep searching soul — one that seeks and finds the tender care of God in the mundane as well as in the devastated places where a fallen world wreaks havoc. Lisa is precious. In fact, each time I think of her, precious is the word the Lord gives me.

Lisa chose to share her story as an essay — a proclamation of found truth, a testimony of finding confidence in the quiet place. She has titled it, Healing Time.

Finding God’s Presence ~ In the Dim Light of Winter Sadness Lies Abundant Grace

Finding God’s Presence ~ In the Dim Light of Winter Sadness Lies Abundant Grace

Arctic air lay across our mountain with brutal, bone-chilling cold. Oyster gray skies heightened the frigid air by reinforcing the dim light of winter sadness.

I tucked my feet beneath me on the couch and spread the warm fleece of a blanket over me. Sipping coffee, I stared out over the barren landscape. Green grass had long since turned brown and brittle. Trees with branches bare stretched with yearning toward the winter sky, perhaps requesting sunlight to warm the sap within.

A Prayer to Face the Days Ahead as Our Shepherd Leads Us

A Prayer to Face the Days Ahead as Our Shepherd Leads Us

Lord, You are my Shepherd. I love Your tender watchcare over me — meeting my needs, protecting me from the enemy, leading me to places of rest and refreshment. Thank You so much.

I rejoice in my coming King and I kneel humbly before You in anticipation of what You may ask of me in this coming year — what You may ask of each of us.

The days grow dark as evil seeps in. But Your grace rains onto the earth like floodwaters washing away our fear and angst

Advent Prayer ~ Learning to Be Still

Advent Prayer ~ Learning to Be Still

Lord, I don’t want to miss You because of all the noise of Christmas. You were “happening” in Bethlehem the night You were born — the glory of Your Presence was all around — but the people missed it. They were busy taking care of business and missed the Son of God coming to earth right there in their midst.

But the shepherds heard and responded with great joy. Was it because the shepherds were separated from the hustle bustle of Bethlehem? Did they anticipate Your coming and wait for You with expectation? Had they learned what it means to be still?

Advent Prayer ~ Your Love Gives Me Hope, Courage, and Peace

Advent Prayer ~ Your Love Gives Me Hope, Courage, and Peace

Lord, there is no god beside You — none can compare! And the amazing thing is that, even though You are magnificent, awesome, and the Most High God, You call us precious in Your sight. You loved us so much that You sent Jesus so we could know You and grasp the depth of Your love.

Help us take hold of that Truth, for it is phenomenal.

Your love gives me hope.

Your love gives me courage. And peace.

Advent Prayer ~ Make My Heart Your Bethlehem

Advent Prayer ~ Make My Heart Your Bethlehem

Lord, O Lord, You are Jehovah tsidkenu — the Lord my righteousness. Without You, there is no righteousness. Without You there is no redemption, no cleansing of the heart to prepare room for Your indwelling Holy Spirit.

Be born in me. Make my heart Your Bethlehem.** Help me in my pursuit of holiness that, in You, the transformation into Your likeness becomes complete and Your light shines with abandon into a darkened world.
