Life punctuated with many trials ... God heard my cry

I pressed my hand against the cool windowpane, rivulets of raindrops coursing down the glass. I saw the image of my own tears reflected in the raindrops. The week had been difficult, punctuated with many trials. My spirit grew weak by the onslaught of the enemy and despair began to set in.

Even though I know better.

Even though I know the Lord is faithful to deliver His children from the flames of adverstity.

Despair was seeping in.

Lives Punctuated with Many Trials Described Many Loved Ones

Many of my friends and loved ones seem to be in similar battles as we strive to stand for righteousness in this fallen world. Lives punctuated with many trials seems to describe it well. Evil has been unleashed, and the enemy, in his strategizing, studies us and finds our weak links. He knows our triggers. He knows our fears.

And he knows how to distract us from the things of God.

Lives punctuated with many trials seems to describe the despair well

The conflict of faith and sight, the conflict of flesh and spirit, raged within me as I tried desperately to lift my feet from the shifting sand and climb onto the Solid Rock. Courage eluded me. Anxiety tormented me.

And then it happened. Heaven came to earth and the Lord my God spoke boldly into my weary spirit: You are a child of God. The gates of hell WILL not and CANNOT prevail against you!

Oh. My. Goodness!

The Lord spoke into my fear and gave me courage. He spoke into my despair and gave me peace. I am a child of God and so are you. The gates of hell will not and cannot prevail against us. Amen?

I am a child of God

Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, ‘There is no help for him [her] in God.’ Selah.

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah. ~ Psalm 3:1-4

The Lord Lavished His Love Upon Me

I sat in the quiet for a few moments, basking in the goodness of the Lord. My tears of sorrow turned to tears of thankfulness — thankful for a God who reigns on high, and yet loves me tenderly.

Lavishly and thoroughly.

There is no love like that of our Father.

Selah
