“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, NKJV
“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” ~ Hebrews 4:15-16, NLT
“In His kindness, God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.” ~ 1 Peter 5:10, NLT
“For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. For the Law was given through Moses, but grace [the unearned, undeserved favor of God] and truth came through Jesus Christ.” ~ John 1:16-17, AMP
I know that Your grace is sufficient
Father, You are wonderful beyond comprehension. Your goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. I know that I know Your grace is sufficient, it is more than enough for anything I may face. So, why do I struggle? Why do I insist on fighting my own battles when You clearly are my Defender? You have never failed me … and I know You never will.
The things I don’t want to do, I do. The things I do want to do, I don’t. Oy! This battle of flesh and spirit is strong. Purify my heart and renew a right spirit within me. For I want to honor You with my life. I want to glorify Your Name and point others to Jesus. Thank You for Your longsuffering with me. You are patient and kind, merciful and true. Always.
Even when I don’t deserve it.
You Offer Us Grace Upon Grace
It seems that my thoughts are the greatest enemy to myself. Help me bring them captive to You, O Lord. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Perhaps, the mind operates. Help me cast down all imaginations and every argument contrary to Your Word. You have given me the mind of Christ — it is not I that live, but Christ that lives in me. Your grace is sufficient to help me overcome this.
Grace upon grace is Your gift to Your children. Undeserved favor. Spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing. I want to walk in the beauty of Your holiness. Create a clean heart in me that I might be pure and blameless before You.
When I want to curse my enemies, help me love them and see them through Your eyes of compassion.
When I harbor resentment that only You and I know about, give me the tenacity to rebuke those thoughts in the Name of Jesus. Right then and right there. Those thoughts are not of You. Even if, from my perspective, they are deserved, You are all about restoration and forgiveness. You see past the sin into the heart of the offender. And I know that behind every behavior is a story.
When I Call on Your Name, Grace Will Rain Down on Me
Help me remember this, Lord. Help me walk in Your truth, to be salt and light in this darkened and hurting world. I am a Christ-bearer and I want to represent You well. My heart needs to be pure before You if I am to do this, otherwise my light is pretentious. Please forgive me. Your grace is sufficient … it is. I need only to reach out, call on Your Name, and grace will rain down on me to help me overcome. Thank You for Your love. It truly amazes me.
Thank You for Your grace that strengthens and sustains me.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so
