Lord, You are a God of Peace, not a god of confusion

“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” ~ 1 Corinthians 14:33, ESV

“O Lord, they pay no attention to Your upraised fist.
Show them Your eagerness to defend Your people.
Then they will be ashamed.
Let Your fire consume Your enemies.

“Lord, You will grant us peace;
all we have accomplished is really from You.” ~ Isaiah 26:11-12, NLT

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.” ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:16, NKJV

I’m Thankful He is Not a God of Confusion

Father, I remind myself often that You are a God of peace and not a god of confusion or chaos. With You all things are done in order — there is an appointed time for all things under heaven.

The certainty of who You are is a beautiful reassurance for me as I watch world events unfolding. It’s frightening, Lord, alarming. It’s as if evil has been unleashed and decency has run out the door. What was once called good, is now called evil, and what was once called evil, is now deemed good and acceptable.

Your standard of right and wrong has been lost to this new world we are living in.

The world no longer follows a standard — it’s absolutely gone crazy. Oh, how it must grieve You, too! To see Your creation in such chaos must bring hurt to Your heart like it does mine. Even more so.

God is not a god of confusion.

When I find myself feeling despair over the world’s condition, I intentionally remember, consider, and ponder that You are a God of peace. Jehovah Shalom is Your Name! You are the Lord of Peace.

Hallelujah!

And You are my Lord. My Father who loves me with an everlasting love — no. matter. what. When I focus on the evil chaos, I become afraid. But when I focus on You, faith is stirred because I remember that You are not a god of confusion, but a God of peace. And I remember that You have the whole world in Your hands and that not even a sparrow falls without Your knowledge.

I'm learning to see things through an eternal lens.

I don’t understand why You are allowing these atrocities of war, and the depraved immoral acts of mankind, but I know You have a plan, and I know You have a purpose in all things. You see things through an eternal lens where there is no timeframe. Your ways are not our ways, and Your thoughts are not our thoughts, as much as we would like for them to be. And when we think You are doing nothing, that is exactly when You are doing the most.

To right the wrongs.

To restore justice and righteousness.

To save and deliver Your children.

God is Who He Says He is, and He Does What He Says He Will Do

Help us — help me — wait on You. I don’t want to wait with anxious restlessness, but to wait in complete trust and Your perfect peace. You are who You say You are and You do what You say You will do. That knowledge is a sure place I can cling to, especially when I don’t understand.

For I know that You are good, You are merciful and kind. I know that You are the God of peace and not the god of confusion and chaos that is wreaking havoc in this world. Rise up, O God, and scatter Your enemies. Be exalted above all the earth!

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen
