Make me holy as You are holy.

But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.'” ~ 1 Peter 1:15-16, NKJV

“Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 7:1, NLT

“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit].” ~ John 15:2, AMP

Will You Make Me Holy as You Have Said?

Lord, You search my heart and know all of my anxious thoughts, restless thoughts — thoughts that are not of You. Some days I’m just a mess. But deep inside, way down in my heart, I yearn to be holy as You are holy. Will You make me holy as You said? Will You transform me into the likeness of Christ?

I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I want people to see Jesus in me … I do.

Make me holy as You are holy.

But those pruning sheers!

Are they really necessary?

Trimming away that which is dead, that which is gangly and doing its own thing, that which has the stench of sin … I know. That’s why You need pruning sheers, and I need to be pruned.

Let faith arise in me to remember this — to think on Your goodness and faithfulness.

The more I surrender to You, the more I will encounter the pruning sheers … BUT, the pruning sheers make room for new growth, increased faith, renewed assurance of who You are, Lord. You are my exceedingly great reward.

I want to bear fruit for Your kingdom. I want to please You in all things — to glorify Your name.

I want You to make me holy as You are holy.

I trust You to strengthen me in the process. I trust You to help me keep my focus on You, to keep my hand to the plow and continue walking by faith and not by sight, knowing that You are my good, good Father who loves me with an everlasting love.

Oh, That I Might Dwell in the Secret Place With You, Lord

Thank You for Your love. No good thing will You withhold from those who walk uprightly, those who love You … and I do. Make me holy Lord, as You are holy so that I might dwell in Your secret place all the days of my life.

In the Name of Jesus I pray,

Amen
