When we focus on Jesus, even the fiercest battles lose their power.

When we focus on Jesus, even the fiercest battles lose their power.

“Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” ~ Hebrews 10:35-36

Lord, I’m so thankful for Your mighty power that moves mountains for me, that guards me fiercely in the battles, that parts the Red Sea when I would otherwise drown. You are mighty!

And Your love is steadfast and true.

I depend on the strength of Your love. Thank You.

Sometimes I feel like I don’t have the strength to take another step. The battles rage around me — fiery darts bouncing loudly off my shield of faith, my legs bogged down with the weight pressing against my shoulders.

Although we are called to endure because, yes, life in this fallen world is hard, and suffering seems to be part of the deal — sometimes endurance becomes a dirty word because we want a break. We want to breathe, to rest in peace.

Yet, You call us to endure.

To fight the battles with courage.

And You make a way to do so.

You tell us to walk by faith and not by sight. You tell us Your grace is sufficient, Your mercies are new every morning.

And they are.

Help us focus on You Lord so that our difficult places become small in the presence of our mighty God. Open our eyes that we might see You. Fill us with the fortitude to press in to You and press on toward the mark of the high calling.

For You are worthy, Lord. You suffered for us that we might know You and have life everlasting. Awaken our hearts and minds to remember that behind every difficult place is a purpose with eternal value — that the Kingdom of God is taken by force.

With determination. With courage. With endurance in the battles.

Be glorified in us, Lord. Be glorified through our difficult places as we shine Your light into the darkened corners of the world.

Be glorified as we endure whatever may come our way knowing that You are with us, You are for us, and that the present struggle lasts only for a moment in light of eternity.

Thank You for the fellowship of Your suffering.

Thank You for the strengthening of our faith born of struggle, proving our faith more precious than gold.

Thank You for the strength and courage to endure.

We love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ Name I pray,

Amen
