Even Jesus made time to pray, not because he had to, but because He wanted to.

Even Jesus made time to pray, not because he had to, but because He wanted to.

In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. ~ Psalm 5:3

Lord, I appreciate Your attentive ear. Your omniscience amazes me. Your heart ever-responsive to Your children blesses me deeply. It lets me know I am not alone. It reminds me that I do not have to surrender to weariness but can rise on the wings of eagles as I wait on You in prayer.

On my knees I find peace.

On my knees I find hope and strength.

On my knees I find You, Lord.

I ask that You impart power to me as I drink from Your cup of Living Water — power to fulfill Your purposes in me. Yes, singleness of mind, that I might recognize and honor Your leading.

I want to be a woman of prayer and I know many others who feel the same. Help us overcome the distractions, the temptations, and the obstacles that would keep us from our knees. Instill in us the discipline to answer Your call to pray — to rise before dawn in the quiet of our homes to get alone with You, our God.

Everything else pales in light of Your love and Your desire to spend time with us. And yet we are guilty of giving You second place. Forgive us Lord. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Awaken our heart’s desire to know You more, to talk with You, to listen for Your wisdom and direction. Help us take hold of this truth — not in a loud “look-at-me-a-prayer-warrior” sort of way, but in a quiet, humble “I love my Lord’ sort of way.

Do You know what I mean, Lord?

Remove pride from us. Remove obligation from us. And return us to You — our first love, the joy of our salvation. Fill our spirits with excitement over the thought of spending time with You. It really is an amazing thought. You are an awesome God. Thank You for drawing us to You, for loving us so tenderly and so well.

You are Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, and our Prince of Peace. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!

In Jesus’ Name I pray,

Amen
