In the quiet He will show us the way.
“And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.'” ~ Isaiah 30: 20-21
Lord, You are my way, my truth, my life. You Are.
The closer I walk with You, the easier I find my way because my eyes are opened to see You leading, my heart is awakened to recognize You, and my ears are opened to hear You saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” Thank You, Lord
You make it sound so simple in Your instruction, and I suppose it is, but for us it gets muddy and complicated quite easily!
Why is that Lord?
Is it because the Deceiver clouds our minds with restless thoughts and lies?
Or is it because hearing Your voice then requires a laying down of our own will?
And boy, do we think we know best! Forgive us, Lord. I’m thankful for Your longsuffering.
I’m also thankful that You are not a god of confusion, but a God of peace. Your peace leads us across troubled waters to get to the green pastures of rest. But if You lead, we must follow — even when it makes no sense.
You tell us that in quietness we will find our strength because in quietness we find You. You are our strength. You are our courage. Our passion. Our peace. You are all that we need.
You are more than enough to satisfy our longing souls.
We’re not fond of the times of adversity You allow in our lives, but I’m learning that it is during these times that we see Your glory and experience Your love in tremendous ways.
And times of adversity teach us Your faithfulness so that when You tell us “walk this way” we have the confidence to do so.
You are so good to us. Thank You for leading us in the paths of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. Thank You for leading us straight into Your glorious Presence for all of eternity.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
