What love is this that I am loved by You, O Lord?

Advent, Week 3: LOVE

“Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” ~ Ephesians 3:17-19, NLT

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
Your justice like the ocean depths.
You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.
How precious is Your unfailing love, O God!
All humanity finds shelter
in the shadow of Your wings.” ~ Psalm 36:5-7, NLT

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:38-39, NLT

I Am In Awe That You Know My Name, Lord

Father, when I think about the vastness of the heavens and remember that You hung the stars in place, or when I consider the sun that rises each morning without fail and paints the lavender sky with ribbons of apricot, I am in awe that You know my name and the deepest concerns of my heart. What love is this that I am loved by You?

Your faithful love is better than life itself. Oh, that I could understand how wide and long and high and deep is Your love! For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is Your steadfast love toward me.

Oh my goodness! You wrap me in light on my darkest of days. You surround me with songs of deliverance and rescue me … often from myself.

Thank You for loving me despite myself. I feel like I fail You so often, but You have shown me that the operative word here is feel — emotions do not dictate who I am to You. Your Word does. Your heart does.

What manner of love is this, Lord? It is pure. It is everlasting — nothing can separate me from Your love. Help me take hold of this truth so that I might be strengthened in the difficult places. Make it more than just words to me, and cause this truth to penetrate my heart and take root in my knower.

What Love is This That Will Never Fail Me?

Nothing can separate me from Your love.

Your love is steadfast, eternal. Your love remains through all my days.

O Lord, my strength, what love is this? Indeed … what love is this?

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
