Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?

You Are My Strength, Lord, When I Feel Overwhelmed
Lord, You are my strength and my song. In the night seasons, You come to me and the light of Your glory permeates my darkness and settles my soul. Your presence is so real to me — Your love so palpable.
Why am I discouraged? Why is my soul disquieted within me, weary from a steady stream of events in this fallen world?
I am in this world, but I am not of this world — I am Your child. You call me daughter. When the earth quakes and mountains are thrown into the sea, You keep me safe. My feet are set upon You, my Rock.
As I wait on You, Lord, give me the wings of eagles to rise above the noise and chaos. Let me soar in the heights of heaven with You, my God.
Help me keep my shield of faith lifted high so the banter across the airwaves doesn’t reach my heart, so the sorrow of those I love doesn’t break my heart
In my weakness You come to me and pour out Your might on my behalf. When I am overwhelmed, You bathe me in Your peace, Your grace washes over me like a refreshing summer rain. In the light of Your presence, the world’s events seem to grow smaller and less threatening because I remember I am safe in Your arms.
When I Feel Discouraged, I Will Look to You
You are my strength, my refuge. You are a very present help in trouble. Therefore I will not fear. When I feel discouraged I will look to You for You know my anxious thoughts and You comfort me.
You are my God. I love You, Lord.
