Jesus is all I need.
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. ~ Hebrews 4:16, NLT
Lord, You know the old hymn, I Need Thee Every Hour? It is so true — I DO need You every hour. I need You every moment of every day. Some days more than others.
Today is one of those days.
I need Your healing touch, Your grace. I need Your longsuffering as I wrestle with attitudes and ideas and callings. Thank You for Your mercy. I need for You to hold me and tell me it will be okay and remind me that this too shall pass.
I need You Jesus — just You — because You are the very thing my soul longs for. Only You can satisfy the needs of my heart.
I don’t know how You do it — how You do this personal attention to the details of our lives. It’s mind-boggling. But Your watchcare is evidenced by the many divine appointments, provisions, and protections that bear no other explanation than they are blessings from Your hand. Thank You.
I pray for those who are overwhelmed with the difficulties of life, who are suffering in their illness, drowning in their sorrow. I pray for those who just want to laugh again. Laughter really is great medicine! Cause laughter to bubble up and over and through their beings.
YOU Lord — YOUR joy is our strength.
Encourage these my friends. Remind them who they are to You. Help them focus on You — not their circumstances — but YOU, knowing that You are quite aware of their circumstances and are even now making a way where there seems to be no way. You are right now working everything together for their good, just as You promised.
We can trust You, Lord, to do what You said You will do. We can trust You to carry us through the muck to get to the other side.
We love You Lord. You are the Mighty God, awesome in power, doing wonders, always caring for Your children. Thank You Father.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen

HOW ABOUT YOU? DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE?
If you would like to share your testimony of finding the nearness of God in your darkest moments, please contact me at nan@nanjones.com. I want to feature folks from all walks of life. You don’t have to be a writer. I can edit your story for you. God is glorified when we use our pain to help others find comfort in Him.
Tosin is wise beyond his years and shares much wisdom in his first book, Insights, that just released on January 1st. As I prepared for this post I visited Tosin’s facebook page and found this message alongside one of his photos, “Your words of encouragement, your words of inspiration, your motivating speeches… Cant just say it all. When you handle mic, you speak… When you hold pen, you write and I always wish I can just have that you know. But to go by your words, nothing happens by mistake. So there’s a purpose of me meeting you and I thank God I did.”
Now do you believe me? This young man is very special. I can’t wait for you to meet my friend, Tosin Olabode.
someone pray for me I need , I want Jesus .
Oh, David, thank you for reaching out to me. Jesus WANTS you to know Him. He pursues us with His love, so that is His voice — His delicate whisper calling your name to come. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and yet God loved us SO MUCH that He gave His only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins (Romans 5:8). The wages of sin is death (eternal separation from a holy God), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 6:23). If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.(Romans 10:9,13).
It’s that easy. God created mankind for fellowship with Him, but when Adam and Eve chose to sin against the Lord in the Garden of Eden, they broke the fellowship God had created. He is a holy God and cannot be joined with sin. Down through the ages a sinful nature was released in all of mankind because of Adam and Eve. But God, in His pursuant love, made a way for us to be redeemed: THROUGH Jesus Christ.
We were created as a body, mind, and spirit. But until we are born again, our spirit is dead, it’s like an empty chamber in our being because of our sin nature. But when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, the Almighty God breathes new life (Ruach Elohim — the Breath of God) into our spirit and we come alive in Christ. It is a powerful miracle! All thing become new.
I love that you are so hungry for God’s love and forgiveness and restoration, that you reached out to me, a stranger. God will honor your hunger and your desire to know Him. I would love it if you would pray the sinner’s prayer with me, or if you feel more comfortable, pray your own prayer of repentance and desire to know Him.
Father, David and I come before You. Together, as we bow in Your presence, I ask that You open the eyes of David’s heart to see You. Allow him to feel the touch of Your hand, and hear the sound of Your still, small voice calling him to Your love. (David, pray with me: “Father, I know I am a sinner. I know I am separated from You, but I don’t want to be. Wash me in the Blood of Jesus and I will be made righteous before You. I believe Jesus is Your Son. I believe He is Lord over all the earth and that He came to save a sinner like me. I believe He died for my sins and rose from the grave three days later to give me eternal life — He CONQUERED death for me. I believe, Lord. Cleanse me and make me whole. I repent of my sins, I turn from them, and ask Your forgiveness. Restore my brokenness. Fill me with Your joy unspeakable, and teach me Your ways. I want all of You, Lord. Thank You for my salvation. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, amen.”)
David, if you prayed this with me and believed in your heart that you are saved, then you are a new creation in Christ. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. Welcome to the family of God! I encourage you to find a fellowship of other Believers and/or a Bible believing church. Please reach out to me at nan@nanjone.com if you have any questions or concerns. All of heaven is rejoicing with you. Sweet blessings, Nan
I need a prayer; I’m experiencing a panic attack. One of my coworkers, I can tell, hates me. Today, she embarrassed me in the meeting. I also need to raise money for my organization, but I can’t find any sponsors. I need Jesus to give me strength. thank you!
Oh goodness! I’m so sorry you are going through this. I apologize for just now responding. I’m behind in my correspondence because I’m launching my new book.
I can hear the angst in your heart. Anxiety and panic attacks are a very real thing that can be devastating. I’m so sorry you are going through this. I’m reminded that one of the names of the Lord is Jehovah Shalom, the Lord my Peace. Shalom peace — God’s peace — is not the absence of chaos. It is the sense of contentment and well-being in the midst of chaos because He is with us. Isn’t that good? That explains the “peace that passes all understanding.” And that peace is available to us at all times, but the Lord is with us at all times.
I also know that this is easier said than done. The last thing the enemy wants you to think about when the world is coming at you hard, is Jesus. Believe me, I know, because I battle anxiety too. But God truly is greater in us than he that is in the world. When we are able to bring our thoughts captive to Him and cast down all imaginations, His peace is allowed to manifest in our hearts. Let’s pray together, ok?
Father, I’m so thankful that no weapon formed against Your children can prosper. You are a shield about us and the Keeper of our soul. I bring my friend before You and ask that You touch her by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Bathe her in Your perfect peace. Reassure her that You are with her, and she is not alone in this battle. Open her eyes to see tangible evidence of Your presence drawing near in this difficult place. Defend her, Lord. Stop the wagging tongues. Lord, You are truth, and You always reveal truth … always. Give my friend wisdom on how to go forward, to walk humbly with You, choosing the high road. I ask that You give her favor and creative ideas for fundraising. Go before her with divine appointments, making a way where there seems to be no way. Encourage her, Lord, and help her keep her eyes on You. Satan, you are the accuser of the brethren, but we are calling your bluff. I rebuke you, in the Name of Jesus. Greater is He that is in Millie, than you, Satan. I bind you according to the Word of God and cast you away. Spirit of Anxiety, release my friend, in Jesus’s Name. Holy Spirit, minister to her as only You can do. Restore her confidence, boost her self-esteem, and cause her to overflow with joy and belly-laughs, for the joy of the Lord IS her strength. Thank You, Lord. We give You praise. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, amen
I actually wrote about anxiety in my Sunday prayer blog this week. Here’s the link: I’m Anxious, Lord. Will You Quiet Me With Your Love?
I’ll continue to pray for you. Sweet blessings, Nan
I need prayers for many things happening in my life right now mentally and financially.
I’m so thankful we have a God who sees us and knows all about it. He searches our hearts and knows all our anxious thoughts. He draws near to those who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit. My favorite devotional is Streams in the Desert. Today’s devotion was so comforting to me — I feel led to share some of it with you.
“Never look ahead to the changes and challenges of this life in fear. Instead, as they arise look at them with the full assurance that God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. Hasn’t He kept you safe up to now? So hold His loving hand tightly, and He will lead you safely through all things. And when you cannot stand, He will carry you in His arms.
“Do not look ahead to what may happen tomorrow. The same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you His unwavering strength that you may bear it. Be at peace, then, and set aside all anxious thoughts and worries.”
Isn’t that good? I especially love this: when challenges arise, “look at them with the full assurance that God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them.” We can rely on this truth. He is a very present help in trouble, but we must look for Him. He promises that when we seek Him, we will find Him. It is in Him that we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).
May I pray for you?
Father, I’m so thankful to know Your sovereignty. You are Almighty God, Maker of Heaven and Earth. You are all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. Nothing is too difficult for You. Thank You for Your faithfulness to Your children. Lord, my friend needs a touch of Your hand, the warm embrace of Your presence drawing near. As we come before You, I ask that You reach out and touch this, Your child, with the power of Your Holy Spirit, and restore peace to their troubled mind and soul. You promise that when we are weak, You will be strong — that Your grace will be sufficient for anything we may face. My friend needs an outpouring of Your grace today, a reminder that they are loved with an everlasting love, that nothing can separate them from Your love. Allow them to feel Your grip on their hand, holding them fast as You lead them through this difficult place. Would You make Yourself known to them in tangible, personal ways — sweet reminders that they are not alone and that You genuinely care for their well-being? I’m asking You to make a way where there is no way, to show Yourself strong on their behalf and give them peace. Fill their hearts with joy unspeakable as they watch Your goodness unfold. Thank You, Lord. We love You and we give You praise. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, amen
Thank you for reaching out to me. I will continue to pray for you.
It has been so long since I experienced God. I’ve been reading my Bible but it feels dry and empty and less real.
You are not alone in your wilderness experience. Please don’t allow the evil one to whisper His lies of “less than, abandonment, doubt, and not worthy” to you. A beautiful aspect of faith is that it is not based on feelings. Our emotions don’t dictate whether God is faithful or not, whether He is present or not. Even our Bible heroes had times of emptiness. Read through Psalm 42. It’s a favorite of mine when I don’t hunger after God’s word. David is so real in his emotions and is very honest with himself and with God. Quite often I will listen to praise music before I read my Bible. Praise ushers in the Holy Spirit. I’ve recently discovered a phenomenal ministry out of the Netherlands called Presence Revival. It is pure worship of people on the streets. There are no bells and whistles, just people like us who love Jesus. The leader (I don’t even know his name. It’s never about him) often reads scripture, people give testimony and pray. Here’s a link: Presence Revival They travel throughout the Netherlands, but also to European countries where locals lead the music. I think you will love it. My husband and I can’t attend church in person right now because of his dementia. In many ways, these folks have become my church. I think you will love them and you will sense a stirring in your heart to hunger after Jesus again. Remember, He does not condemn us, but He will whisper our name and call us to Himself. I’ll be praying for you. Sweet blessings, Nan
