The Voice of God is Mighty in Power
Father, Your voice is powerful, majestic. You spoke, and there was light. You spoke, and the earth was formed out of the chaos as Your presence hovered above the darkness. The earth is in chaos again, Lord — yes, it has form, it is tangible — but things are given to the depravity of men, and it seems that evil has been unleashed.
But Your Voice … Your voice calms the storm, Your voice breaks strongholds, causes the wilderness to shake. Your voice brings new life, heals the brokenhearted, calls the lost, and restores the hopeless.
I consider the work of Your hands, Your sovereignty, Your authority over all the earth, and my heart is steadied, for I know I can trust You. I know I am safe in the shelter of Your wings. But when I take my eyes off You, I admit that my heart becomes unsettled, and my mind is restless with thoughts of what’s next. What if? And how can it be? This happens when I lean into my own understanding and entertain the lies of the enemy.
Forgive me, Lord. You are so much bigger than all of this. You speak, and Your voice thunders across the chaos and restores order. Your voice speaks light into the darkness and overcomes evil with Your goodness and mercy. When You speak, I know Your truth will prevail.
Hold fast to my hand and I will be brave. Let me be a conduit of Your love, a voice in the wilderness saying, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord.” Let me speak life, hope, and truth into the lives of those I encounter. Use me to reconcile others to You.
Speak, Lord, and Calm the Chaos
For You are the way, the truth, and the life. May my heart be humble before You, and may my heart remain pure so that others will see Jesus in me. Speak, Lord, and Your powerful voice will calm the chaos and restore order to this crazy, mixed-up world. Speak, and there will be peace.
