“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” ~ John 15:1-4, NKJV
“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.” ~ Psalm 62:5-7, NKJV
Teach Me How You’re the Vine Lord
Lord, You preserve my life. You rescue me when the enemy runs at me hard. You’re the Vine Lord — I know this. I believe this. And I have an understanding of what this means.
But my branch — my heart and mind — are gummed up with worries.
Like the sap that flows through the grapevine to sustain life, Your Living Water flows through me … except when the channel is gummed up, preventing the flow.
As I draw near to You and give You the burdens of my heart, will You open the channels again and allow the Living Water to flow? Will You remove the debris, and dissolve the ‘gummed up’ portions?
You ARE the vine that sustains me.
There is no other god but You.
Apart from You, I can do nothing with excellence. You empower me by Your Spirit to accomplish the work You have given me to do.
You’re the vine Lord. I am but a branch. In You, all things are possible.
Teach me to abide in You, to thrive in You.
Teach me to wait with expectant hope, standing on Your Word, clutching Your promises to my heart. I trust You, Lord. I depend on You for all things. You are the vine.
I Want to Be a Fruitful Branch
I am so thankful for Your cleansing love that washes away the clutter of my heart. Let my fruit of the Spirit be a powerful representation of who You are. Have Your way in me, Lord.
In the Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen — let it be so
