A few months ago the Lord, in His goodness, crossed my path with Lisa Tindal. We found each other on Twitter and although we haven’t become bosom buddies, I am clearly drawn to her deep searching soul — one that seeks and finds the tender care of God in the mundane as well as in the devastated places where a fallen world wreaks havoc. Lisa is precious. In fact, each time I think of her, precious is the word the Lord gives me.

Arctic air lay across our mountain with brutal, bone-chilling cold. Oyster gray skies heightened the frigid air by reinforcing the dim light of winter sadness.
I tucked my feet beneath me on the couch and spread the warm fleece of a blanket over me. Sipping coffee, I stared out over the barren landscape. Green grass had long since turned brown and brittle. Trees with branches bare stretched with yearning toward the winter sky, perhaps requesting sunlight to warm the sap within.

Advent Prayer ~ Learning to Be Still
Lord, I don’t want to miss You because of all the noise of Christmas. You were “happening” in Bethlehem the night You were born — the glory of Your Presence was all around — but the people missed it. They were busy taking care of business and missed the Son of God coming to earth right there in their midst.
But the shepherds heard and responded with great joy. Was it because the shepherds were separated from the hustle bustle of Bethlehem? Did they anticipate Your coming and wait for You with expectation? Had they learned what it means to be still?
