Not only do we share the difficulties fibromyalgia presents, but we also share the rewards and struggles of pastoral ministry through serving as pastors’ wives. She is a bright light on social media as she strives to minister to those who suffer with chronic pain and those who may feel alone in battle fatigued through pastoral ministry. I know you will enjoy learning her faith journey as she shares how she clings to the hand of God through it all.

Torrents of rain pounded the roof. Squall after wind-driven squall battered our mountain community leaving many areas in ruin. Mudslides, tornado warnings, a flood of massive proportions kept everyone on high alert until the October storm passed us by.

This was highly unusual.

A mountain storm of this magnitude in October took everyone by surprise.

O Lord, my Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth. Help me understand the power in Your Name, the grace applied, the love required. Your Name is who You are — Deliverer, Savior, Redeemer, and Friend … I pray for others who want to know You more. You promise that if we seek You, we will find You — when we call upon Your Name, You will respond. How beautiful is Your love for us — Your faithfulness.

I met my guest, Cindy Eller, several years ago in our local community of Ashe County, NC. Even before I knew her story, I recognized the strength of the Lord emanating from her — the strength that shows in the eyes that harbor deep wounds, yet the heart loves unconditionally and the lips smile with genuineness. After I learned of her family’s heart-wrenching ordeal, my admiration and respect grew even more. Cindy is a power to be reckoned with — not because she is a mighty warrior in her own strength, but because she knows the God in whom she has believed and she lives to tell His story of grace.

Sunshine bathed my face in warm light as I gazed at the sapphire sky of October. Peace stirred within me — a peace long sought after. I walked up the gravel drive of the country church nestled in our mountain hollar. Sitting down on the church’s top step, I wrapped my arms around my knees, intertwined my fingers, gently rocked, and thought of the Lord, the Keeper of my soul.
