I have the honor of sharing Solveig Leithaug — Norwegian Christian songwriter/musician extraordinaire with you today as she launches her new CD, Time. She now lives in Franklin, Tennessee with her husband Jim Gentry and their five kids. I remember Solveig’s music from my early walk with Jesus back in the ’80s. Her spirit is magnificently sweet and humble, her music soothing and peaceful — just what an aching heart longs for.

I pressed my hand against the cool window pane, rivulets of raindrops coursing down the glass, reflecting the streaming tears coursing down my cheeks.

The week had been difficult, punctuated with many trials. My spirit grew weak by the onslaught of the enemy and despair began to set in. And then what felt to be a fatal blow came against me — a financial one that nearly sent me into a fetal position.

Lord, I’m so tense. Everything feels balled up in a tight knot — it’s awful! I feel like the gerbil racing inside her wheel running incessantly trying to avoid an internal explosion.

You keep speaking to me about striving…

I want to step out of the boat and walk toward You, but the waves are slapping against me. The sky is dark and threatening, and the wind howls at me with its taunts and mockery. And rather than being courageous and full of faith, I want to cover my eyes and weep and make it all go away.

Wounds of the heart can grow bitterness. Ugliness. Anguish, or distress.

Or … wounds of the heart can grow good seeds of grain, crushed to produce life-giving bread to feed others. Deep faith can grow with roots steady and strong. Eyes can open to see abounding grace and the abiding presence of the Lord.

O God, You are my God! When I seek You, I will find You. When I call on Your Name, You will answer. When I bear my heart before You in prayer, You respond before the words leave my lips. Bless you Lord.

Stir up a hunger and thirst for Your Word in each of us who long to know You more. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Your Word holds the answers, for You alone are our hope.
