The morning dew glistened like moonlit ripples on a pond. Tiny droplets from God’s generous hand lay scattered across the thirsty earth, testifying of His faithfulness to provide.

Blue tugged on his leash as we walked across the front yard. He paused at the giant juniper. As Blue sniffed the cat’s trail running up the ancient tree, I looked down at my feet. Across the tops of my shoes lay individual beads of dew reflecting the dawn, shimmering in the dim light of morning.

I recalled the scripture in Genesis that reminds me of the dew. Before there was a plant for the field, or rain on the earth, or a man to till the ground, “mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.”* Even before man was created, God was preparing and providing for him.

And that reminds me of His grace … ever-available, always replenishing, pouring out like rain to meet the needs of His children.

The jewels of moisture crowning my shoes caused me to pause. I thought of how God’s grace is with me and His goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. With every step I take, He goes with me … I am not alone.

And neither are you.

“And He [the Lord] said,
‘My Presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest.'”
