“God, investigate my life;
get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to You;
even from a distance, You know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of Your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and You’re there,
then up ahead and You’re there, too—
Your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
I can’t take it all in!” ~ Psalm 139:1-6, MSG
“See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!” ~1 John 3:1a, NLT
“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.” ~ Psalm 57:1, NKJV
I Seem to Be in a Valley. I Need a Hug, Lord
Lord, I know and I believe You are God of the mountain and God of the valleys — God of the good times and God of the hard times. Because You are sovereign Lord. Eternal. All-knowing and all-present.
I seem to be in a valley, where the winds of trial howl and the shadows fall easily. I need a hug, Lord — tangible evidence of Your presence. Hide me beneath the shadow of Your wings until these calamities pass me by.
I know I don’t wrestle with flesh and blood — not really. I wrestle with principalities and rulers of darkness who have their sites set on me. And I also know I have full authority over the enemy.
I know these things but I’m suffering from battle fatigue. Fortify me, Lord. Remind me who I am to You. No one understands me like You do. And no one loves me like You do.
I need a hug, Lord. Enclose me from before and from behind with Your Spirit. Lay Your hand upon my head and reassure me with Your presence. Search my heart and know all of my anxious thoughts. Capture and render them harmless as they stand in the light of Your Truth.
You Are the God Who Sees Me and Knows All About It
Thank You, Lord. You always seem to know when I need a hug from You. You are the God who sees me and knows all about it … and You care. What a blessing You are! You are the delight of my heart. I don’t know what I would do without You, Lord.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so
