Life is hard God, but You are So, So Good

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.” ~ Psalm 107:1, NKJV

“How great is the goodness
You have stored up for those who fear You.
You lavish it on those who come to You for protection,
blessing them before the watching world.” ~ Psalm 31:19, NLT

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?” ~ Micah 6:8, NKJV

God Cannot Not Be Good

Father, You are the essence of goodness. I don’t think I truly understand the depth of Your goodness, but surely it correlates to the depths of Your love which far exceeds my imagination. You are good in the widest sense, the furthest extreme … even when life is hard.

I’ve learned that Your goodness remains regardless of my circumstances — You cannot not be good. And I find reassurance in this knowledge because I realize that even when life is hard, You draw near to me. Your goodness ministers peace and Your love surrounds me as a shield.

You are Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider.

You are Jehovah-Rapha, my Healer.

Even When life is hard, God is still good.

You are El Roi, the God Who Sees Me.

And You are Jehovah-Shammah, the Lord who is there.

Lord, You are more than enough for whatever I need, so when life is hard, what do You require of me? You’ve taught me when I don’t know what to do, I am to live justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with You.

Could it really be that simple? Justice, mercy, humility? Honestly, it took me a while, but I have come to understand that when I walk humbly with You — understanding and respecting Your sovereignty — I will naturally want to live justly and love mercy and kindness towards others. And THAT, I believe, places me in the center of Your goodness because THAT places me in the center of Your will.

When Life is Hard, You, Lord, Strengthen Me With Your Love

Oh, bless You, Lord! You are good … and merciful … and kind. You are my hiding place when life is hard, shielding me from the enemy, and strengthening me with Your love.

I am so thankful for Your precious abiding presence.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
