An occasional red leaf tinged in yellow shows off in the midst of green leaves clinging to summer, painting a portrait of hope for weary pilgrims. Chilly mountain mornings belie the humid, hot afternoons, and watermelons vie for attention in the noise of pumpkin this and pumpkin that.
Seasons change. Transitions come.
And the Word of the Lord never fails. Not ever.
God Sees His Weary Pilgrims … and Cares
We can cling to, rely upon, and place our hope in God’s eternal Word, for it is proven to be true. What God says He will do, He will do. Who He says He is, He is.
It’s quite simple. We make it complicated, but God doesn’t. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The grass fades, and the leaves change, but His Word is forever.
When the world around us is like shifting sand, we can stand firm on God’s Word. When seasons of joy transition into seasons of sorrow, or when seasons of hope change suddenly into a season of despair, stand on the promises of God’s Word, for He changes not.
Like a strong and sturdy nail on a doorpost, He is a sure place, steady and faithful.

Charles Spurgeon said, “Don’t you know that day dawns after night, showers displace drought, and spring and summer follow winter? Then, have hope! Hope forever, for God will not fail you!”
Hope. No matter what life changes come our way, we can place our hope in God and lean upon His Word. He will not fail us! He understands the hearts of His weary pilgrims — He searches our hearts and knows all of our anxious thoughts.
The exquisite reds, oranges, and golds of autumn are preparing to wrap our mountain ridges in a glorious cloak of color as they transition into the autumn season. In their preparation there is beauty. It’s not all at once. It begins like a trickle, a slow realization that change is coming. A crimson leaf here. A leaf of stunning apricot there. But it’s color — beautiful color — all the same.

Beautiful color because of change.
When we allow our transitions of change to reflect the beauty garnished by the certainty of God’s Word, even though a season of winter may await us, the peace of God will prevail. The glory of God’s abiding presence through the transitions will manifest into a beautiful robe of righteousness that will protect us when the gale winds blow.
Hold Fast. God Will Paint for You a Portrait of Hope
Weary pilgrims, hold fast to God’s Word for you. He cares for you. He loves you with an everlasting love.
And when you find yourself in a season of change, let go of your fear and fall into His waiting arms of grace. With colors of crimson, He will paint for you a portrait of hope — He will be faithful to carry you through.
