morning light always speaks to my soul

Soft rays of sunlight began to filter through the leaves of the old apple tree while most of the earth still lay in the shadow of night. Birdsong began to awaken with the dawn and my spirit began to stir. Morning light always speaks to my soul.

God’s Mercies are New Every Morning

Morning light is delicate in nature, yet forceful in its breakthrough. Intentional. Its presence transforms and renews as it permeates the darkness, morning after morning … without fail.

The mercy of the Lord is like this. It is new every morning. When my heart is overwhelmed and I cry out to heaven, His mercy surges through the shadows of my soul and restores peace, its light permeating the darkness of my overwhelm.

Sitting in the softness of the dawn, I pondered the things of God. I considered how His morning light carries with it God’s tender mercies … if only we would look for them with anticipation. Do we believe the Lord when He promises that His mercies are new every morning? Do we cling to His promise of faithfulness to us, His children?

morning light grew with the birdsong

As the earth became bathed in sunlight, the birdsong grew louder, a chorus of heaven’s praise. My spirit joined in as I, too, offered praise to my Savior. I brushed tears of thankfulness from my cheeks and smiled at the cardinal dining on the feast outside my window. A Psalm rose up in my heart:

“But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.” ~ Psalm 59:16-17

I Will Sing of God’s Mercy in the Morning Light

Oh, God of mercy, how good You are. I need Your mercy, I depend on Your merciful steadfast love. Great are You, Lord. I praise Your holy Name.

Morning light always speaks to my soul.
