“You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah” ~ Psalm 32:7, NKJV
“1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and He turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.
3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” ~ Psalm 40:1-3, NLT
“15 When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. ‘Oh, sir, what will we do now?’ the young man cried to Elisha. 16 ‘Don’t be afraid!’ Elisha told him. ‘For there are more on our side than on theirs!’ 17 Then Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!’ The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.” ~ 2 Kings 6:15-17, NLT
Lord, You Surround Me With Songs of Deliverance
Father, You are my refuge and my strength, my God in whom I trust. You preserve me in trouble as a shield protects the soldier, as a father protects his child. You surround me with songs of deliverance — the praise of Your angel army thwarts the enemy.
I like to imagine Your angel army, the one Elisha saw as his gaze scoured the mountain ridge above Dothan. Chariots of fire encircled the chariots of the Syrian King as they hunted down the man of God. I can imagine a mighty song of praise, a victor’s song rising from the flaming chariots sparking fear in the enemy.
I can imagine the enemy fleeing in the face of God’s power and might.
Lord, I realize I’m speculating, but I believe it makes sense. You are the Lord of Hosts, the God of Angel Armies, and praise is one of Your greatest weapons. When the enemy assaults me, I look expectantly for Your help. Open my ears to hear the songs of deliverance surrounding me as a shield.
Greater are You that is in me, than he that is in the world. You are a shield about me, the glory and the lifter up of my head.
With You by my side, I have no need to fear … I am able to stand firm against the evil one. I am able to lift my head high and listen … listen for the throng of mighty voices singing their songs of deliverance all around me, a circle of praise, a circle of victory.
Open My Ears, Lord, So I Can Hear Your Mighty Song
Oh, what a mighty God You are! I am so thankful to be Your child. You are my Beloved and I am Yours. I love You, Lord.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so
