“I hear the Lord saying, ‘I will stay close to you,
instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.
I will advise you along the way
and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.
So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn [like a mule]
when I take you where you’ve not been before.
Don’t make me tug you and pull you along.
Just come with me!’” ~ Psalm 32:8-9. TPT
“But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.” ~ John 10:2-4, NLT
I Want to Be Like a Sheep in His Pasture
Lord, You are my Shepherd, I shall not want for any good thing. You lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. I want to be like a sheep in Your pasture, but lately I’ve been acting more like a mule.

It’s very subtle — most wouldn’t notice. But I do … and I’m sure You do as You search my heart and find anxious thoughts and attitudes that are not of You.
Please forgive me. I don’t want to be stubborn and reluctant to follow Your lead. Forgive me when I think I know better than You and I don’t want to leave the current green pastures I’m standing in.
I want my heart to be like a sheep that follows You without question, without fear — each step steeped in trust. I know Your thoughts toward me are for peace. I know You have prepared a future and a hope for me.
I know these Truths, and believe these Truths …

And yet my legs get heavy and my feet get stuck and before You know it, I’m like a mule needing to be prodded and pulled by Your mighty hand.
O, wretched woman that I am! The things I do want to do, I don’t do, and the things I don’t want to do, I do. I don’t know how You put up with me, Lord, but I’m so thankful You do.
Thank You for making me aware of my stubborn ways, and thank You for understanding my heart. You know in my heart of hearts, I want to be like a sheep that doesn’t hesitate to follow You wherever You may lead.
I Choose to Follow You, Jesus
I confess my stubborn ways to You and ask that You cleanse me of all unrighteousness. I choose to follow You.
I choose to be like a sheep and put away my mulish ways.
In the Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen — let it be so
