I ask that You put the image in our mind's eye of the burden weighing us down being placed in a net by us. Help us see our hands gathering up the net and slinging the burden -- casting our cares -- into Your River of Living Water where You are waiting to receive them.

” … casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.] ~ 1 Peter 5:7-9, AMP

Casting All Our Cares

Lord, what a mighty God You are! Faithful and true, merciful and kind. We need You, Lord. Our burdens are heavy, and we’re having a hard time casting all our cares on You.

We are sheep. You are our shepherd. We are not designed to CARRY our burdens — You are. We are designed and instructed to cast them onto You –to throw them towards You like a fisherman with his net.

So why is it so hard? Why in the world would we want to carry these burdens instead? Indeed, Lord. Why in the world?

Help us see our hands gathering up the net and slinging the burden -- casting our cares -- into Your River of Living Water where

Your ways are not our ways; Your thoughts are not our thoughts. And You certainly don’t want us to live our lives according to the world’s standards. The world says to, “Man up!” or mocks us with accusations like, “Why is a strong woman of faith so consumed with worry?”

Help us make this shift. I ask that You put the image in our mind’s eye of the burden weighing us down being placed in a net by us. Help us see our hands gathering up the net and slinging the burden — casting our cares — into Your River of Living Water where You are waiting to receive them.

When burdens are heavy, receive them as an offering of our trust in You. You do all things well, Lord. ALL things. Set us free from the habit of worry. Set us free from clinging to our burdens like they are OURS to own and fuss over. No! They are Yours to carry, Lord. They are Yours to redeem. Help us cast our cares on You.

Casting All Our Cares on Jesus Sets us Free

Strengthen us, Lord. Give us tenacious faith to rebuke Satan’s lies with Your truth. Teach us to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

In Jesus’s Name I pray,

Amen — let it be so
